Becoming a pilot requires huge amount of investment. Flight schools and other colleges offers pilot flight training as much as $60,000 just for the theory and studies alone. Expenses can rack up once getting the license and the actual flight training. Students are looking for loans or applying for pilot grants can help a student fulfill their dreams.
Unlike loan, pilot grants are like scholarships that you do not need to repay. Federal government, private schools and colleges offers these grants. There are non government agencies who offer this program as well.
Government Federal (Pell) Grants
Students who are taking a pilot training course can apply for pilot grants offered by the government. There are two kinds of grants US government offers:
a. Pell Grants
Pell grants offers financial assistance to a student whose family is incapable of shouldering the whole fees involved in pilot training. This pilot grants provides financial assistance from four hundred dollars ($400) to more than four thousand dollars ($4,000) as assistance.
b. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
This pilot grant offered by the government provides pilot students yearly assistance of one hundred dollars ($100) to four thousand dollars ($4,000).
Both Pell and Federal Supplemental Educational Grants require the pilot student to enroll himself on a minimum half basis. The evaluators will base the amount of pilot grants to each students need.
Flight Schools
Every colleges and pilot flight school offers different types of pilot grants. Almost every flight school or pilot schools offer this pilot grants to their students. There is individual organization within the flight schools that provides grants too. This organization is dealing with external government agencies or groups in order to support their students.
Other Organization
There is other private organization that offers scholarships and pilot grants to students. The amount of assistance differs from each organization too.
